Hello, my name is Luke and I make wood products of all kinds in Portland Oregon.

I have always enjoyed time spent in forests and been endlessly fascinated by the wonders that trees provide for us. Wood is such a great building material because it is lightweight, strong, renewable, stores carbon throughout its useful life and is scientifically proven to lower our blood pressure and stress levels when we see it.

I went to study in the Department of Wood Science & Engineering at Oregon State University. Not only did I get to create furniture, functional art & buildings but I also studied the properties and characteristics to make a wood product that stands the test of time. I was involved in research that explored the efficacy of using blue stain Ponderosa pine for Cross Laminated Timber panels in commercial buildings.

This passion to build unique products with wood has led to the creation of Yamhill Studio. I enjoy making custom items for others and put the same care into each one as if it were my own.
